Waikiki Glide Ride

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the 2-hour tour and the 90-minute tour?
Both tours begin with a 30 minute training session followed by the trip to Ala Moana Beach Park and Magic Island. In the morning, our stay at the park is extended for 30 minutes, allowing you additional time to explore and "free-range". The afternoon tour allows for a similar experience, but the amount of time in the park is 30 minutes less than the morning tour.

Are there any age restrictions?
All participants must be 16 years of age and riders under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult or guardian. However, children age 14 and older can participate in the Segway Introduction Tour of Waikiki Beach or you can arrange a custom tour.

Are there any weight limitations?
Each rider must weigh at least 100 pounds and no more than 260 pounds. For guests weighing more than 260 pounds, please contact us directly, by clicking the "Contact this Seller" link for possible alternatives.

Do I have to sign a waiver?
Yes. All participants must sign a waiver at the start of the tour and bring a photo ID with them if they are age 18 or older. Participants under the age of 18 need to have a parent or guardian co-sign with them.

Will you teach me how to use the Segway?
Yes, each Segway of Hawaii customer will undergo a 20-30 minute orientation and hands-on training session to ensure a safe and fun Segway PT glide is enjoyed by all.

Is a Segway difficult to use?
Absolutely not, if you can walk you can Segway. All you need to do is think forward and the Segway will do the rest.

Will we travel on the street?
No, Segways are sidewalk legal.

Will I need anything on the day of my tour?
Yes, everyone 18 and over will need a picture I.D. There are also plenty of beautiful sights to capture along the way, so bring a camera!

Do I have to wear a helmet?
It is our policy to require all gliders to wear a helmet. One will be provided to you free of charge.

What if I'm not fully comfortable on the Segway after training?
On a few occasions, guests have decided they were not comfortable enough on the Segway after training to continue on with the tour. In these cases, we may offer to add additional training time and reduce your tour time; take you to Kapiolani Park where we can glide easily around the park and still enjoy the Segway experience; OR provide you a voucher for you to return and repeat the training/tour at another day and time. Your safety and comfort are paramount to us.

I'm a Waikiki local - will I enjoy this tour?
Even if you have seen the Hawaiian landscape before, you'll still enjoy the unique experience of riding a Segway. Our guides are also incredibly knowledgeable of the area and are sure to tell you new stories about your favorite Waikiki sites.

What happens if it rains?
The tour usually runs in light rain and other moderate weather conditions, but we may cancel to up to an hour before the start time in the event of severe or unsafe weather conditions. If we cancel the event, you will be allowed to reschedule your tickets or receive credit for a future event.

Are restrooms available?
There are public restroom stops along the tour route. If you should need to stop, please let us know and we will try to accommodate you.

Do Segways have the ability to store bags, purses?
We have the ability to transport necessary items like cameras and medications. However, we advise you to keep your personal items to a minimum as our storage capacity is VERY limited.

Will I be able to take pictures along the way?
Yes!! You'll have plenty of photo opportunities along the way and we strongly encourage you to take advantage of them!

How much time of the tour is actually spent on a Segway?
The majority of the time will be on the Segway. We start with a 20-30 minute training session and then ride on the Segway for most of the tour. There will be a few stops for the group to take pictures and enjoy the amazing scenery.
