Driving Requirements
Guests must be 21 years of age or older, have a valid state driver's license, and know how to properly operate a manual transmission to rent and drive a dunebuggy.

The dunebuggies are super fun and easy to drive. They're based on VW Beetle pans, with aircooled engines, 4-speed manual transmissions, just like the originals. However, the pan has not been shortened, allowing room for 4 passengers. There's even a lockable trunk!
Don't let the name fool you: These cruisers are designed for the road only. They're more than powerful enough for the freeway. And believe us, nothing is more exhilarating than hearing the engine rev and feeling the Hawaiian aina all around you.
For safety, a fully integrated rollcage is installed. Each car has been professionally manufactured with quality, reliability and safety in mind. They're meticulously maintained and inspected on a daily basis, so you can rest assured that you'll be driving a machine in tip top shape. Rain? No problem! A removable soft top is included. Other features include optional rentals including surfboards, boogieboards and snorkel gear. Dunebuggy Adventures will give you a detailed map of the island and show you a bunch of cool spots to see.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the dunebuggies go off-road?
Nope. Don't let the name "dune" mislead you. These things are super fun to drive on the road, and the gorgeous scenery on Oahu is best seen in an open air vehicle. The views from the roads are absolutely breathtaking!
Is the car ecological?
Yeah! The pan (or frame) is recycled from a rust-free VW Beetle, stripped down, inspected and used as the base for the dunebuggy. And because they're so light, they get great gas mileage!
How many people can fit?
Generally four adults.
I'm not 21, or I'm just not comfortable driving, but I really want ride in one. Can I?
Sure! If for any reason you're not able rent, by all means take a dunebuggy tour.
We have 5 or more people. What can we do?
Rent two! Or, have a guide drive one and rent the other one!
